On Thursday night the Saugerties Stallions played against the Adirondack Trailblazers.  Saugerties starting pitcher John Clayton (UAlbany) threw six shutout innings, earning the win in the effort.

Saugerties started scoring in the bottom half of the first from an RBI single from Jack Gonzalez (Stetson) scoring Luke Petterson (Minnesota), who hit a double and moved to third base on an error.  Connor Powers (UAlbany) walked with the bases loaded to add to the Stallions lead at 2-0.

Austin Powell (Arkansas State) would draw another walk for the Stallions to score a runner to increase the lead to three.

In the bottom of the third inning, Gonzalez opened the inning with a leadoff triple down the right field line.  Tyler Kelder (St, Bonaventure) hit a sac fly to score Gonzalez and make the lead 4-0.

Matt Feinstein (Dartmouth) walked to start the bottom of the fifth for Saugerties.  Feinstein would go onto steal second and score off Kelder’s double to center field, as Stallions would lead 5-0.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Powers struck out swinging but reached on a wild pitch that bounced behind the catcher, landing on the grandstand roof allowing him to reach safely on first.  Jeff Palczewski (Buffalo) hit a sac fly to score Powers and make the Stallions lead 6-0.

The Trailblazers came back to fight in the top of the ninth inning to score four runners off a struggling Jeff Hayner (Niagara) to shorten the lead to two.  Matt Pushard (Maine) came in to close the game for the Stallions, as they win 6-4.

The Stallions play their next game on Friday, June 23 in a double header at the Amsterdam Mohawks.
