The Saugerties Stallions took their second win of the season on Sunday with a 10-1 victory over the Oneonta Outlaws.
The Stallions are now 2-0 on the season after a win last Friday against the Glens Falls Dragons. Saugerties has now outscored its first two opponents this season 22-3.
Sunday’s game against the Outlaws marked the first this season that head coach Collin Martin was able to join the team after a trip to the NAIA World Series with his college team Webber International University.
Player of the Game: Shortstop Nick Croce was awarded player of the game honors after two RBI doubles helped push the team to yet another large margin win.
Key Players: Other standout performances included left fielder Justin Ford, who went 2-4 with an RBI and three runs, and catcher Logan Sanchez who also recorded two hits and two RBI’s.
Stallions Pitching: On the mound the Stallions had an all-around impressive outing. Between pitchers Steven Svenson, Andrew Speranza and Gregory Bruno, the Outlaws struck out 14 times and tallied a single earned run and 7 hits in nine innings.
Looking Ahead: Off to a hot start, the Stallions look to continue their win streak on Tuesday when they travel to Mohawk Valley to take on the Diamond Dawgs in another game on the road.
