Game Recap: Stallions Defeat Mohawks 3-1

Location: Cantine

Date: July 9, 2025

Time: 7:00 p.m.

Summary: The Stallions defeated the Amsterdam Mohawks 3-1 in the team’s sixth straight victory. The Stallions found themselves in a defensive showdown with Amsterdam, with both teams struggling to find home plate. The Stallions, despite recording double-digit hits, stranded runners on base throughout the night in light of impressive pitching from Amsterdam. Saugerties responded with good outings of their own on the mound, allowing one run to the division-leading Mohawks.

Key Players

Dylan Passo (Stallions): Passo went 2-3 on the night and recorded one of the team’s three RBIs.

Reece Moroney (Stallions): Moroney was also active at the plate, going 2-3 with an RBI and two runs.

Pitching Notes

Matthew Drillings (Stallions): Drillings showed up and showed out in his two innings on the mound, allowing no hits and no runs to the Mohawks. He was expected to go longer as the night’s starter, but was replaced due to concerns for a blister on his hand.

Mason Weaver (Stallions): Weaver joined the game in the 8th and the 9th, shutting out the Mohawks to secure the Stallions’ win. Weaver was the only Saugerties pitcher with multiple strikeouts against Amsterdam, recording two in the game’s final inning.

Game Conclusion:

The Stallions face a quick turnaround, traveling to Amsterdam for a pair of immediate rematches with a double header against the Mohawks on Thursday. The Stallions look to continue Wednesday’s success with a couple more wins over the team leading the division.
