Game Recap: Stallions Topple Utica in Extra Innings

Summary: The Stallions have gone to extra innings three games in a row, claiming their second straight win over the Utica Blue Sox with a 4-3 victory through 10 innings. On Thursday night, the Stallions toppled Utica 7-6 and saw similar success on Friday, once again taking a one-run victory. The Stallions performed well on the bump, going through four pitchers, allowing one earned run, with Friday’s win being awarded to Gregory Bruno. Bruno came into the game in the 8th and finished the win, allowing three hits, one unearned run, and recording two strikeouts. Dylan Fitzsimmons called the game with a walkoff single in the bottom of the 10th.


Key Players

Dylan Fitzsimmons (Stallions): In the bottom of the 10th, tied 3-3 with a 1-2 count and the winning run at third, Dylan Fitzsimmons hit a walkoff single to take Friday’s game over Utica. Fitzsimmons finished the night 2-3 with two RBI. 

Pitching Notes

Gregory Bruno (Stallions): There was a lot of good pitching from the Stallions from all four pitchers used for the ponies, but Bruno stood out, coming in the game in the 8th and closing out the win through the 10th. Bruno was awarded the win after pitching three innings, allowing one hit and recording two strikeouts.


Game Conclusion:

The Stallions have been chugging in July, winning 10 of 14 games since the month started. At the moment, the only team that has beaten the ponies in July is the Amsterdam Mohawks, who account for three losses and one tie this month against Saugerties.
