Summary: The Stallions took a 4-3 victory over the Boonville Lumberjacks on Saturday, improving to 19-12 on the season. Saugerties were coming off a pair of losses to the Amsterdam Mohawks after losing both games of a doubleheader on Thursday. They recovered from those losses, traveling to Boonville to take on the Lumberjacks and recording another win. It was a comeback victory for the Stallions, trailing 3-2 heading into the seventh. Then a pair of runs at the top of the inning gave the Stallions a one-run lead and the eventual victory. They now look forward to Sunday, where they will play at home for the first time since Wednesday.
Key Players
Jamie Zee (Stallions): Zee was brought in as a pinch hitter and recorded the game-tying run with an RBI single in the top of the seventh, setting up the eventual game-winning run, where Reece Moroney would score on an error. He finished the night 1-1 with an RBI.
Ryan King (Stallions): The only Stallion with a multi-hit game on the night, King went 2-4 with an RBI. King’s double in the sixth brought in the second run of the game for Saugerties.
Pitching Notes
Virgil Heath (Stallions): Heath was awarded the win on Saturday after coming in to pitch for Marciano Neglia. Heath’s night was outstanding, pitching 4.1 innings, allowing two hits, no runs and striking out five Lumberjacks.
