Summary: The Stallions topple the Glens Falls Dragons on Wednesday, taking a home field victory, 9-5. The Stallions were impressive on both sides of the plate, with sound pitching throughout, complemented by steady offense, scoring in five of eight innings played. This comes as a needed win for the Stallions, who have gone 5-5 in their past ten games and were looking for a bounce-back after losing to the Amsterdam Mohawks 11-8 on Tuesday.
Key Players:
Anthony Frobose (Stallions): In his Stallions debut, Frobose impressed, going 2-4 and hitting a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh. He was one of the various Stallions playing their first game for Saugerties and stood out against the Dragons.
Pitching Notes
Keller Ausbun (Stallions): Ausbun was lights out on the mound, pitching five innings, allowing three hits, two earned runs and recording four strikeouts. He continues to lean into a starting role for Saugerties and was awarded the win for last night’s performance.
Mason Weaver (Stallions): Weaver joined the game in the 9th in relief and made quick work of the Glens Falls batters. Weaver quickly recorded two strikeouts and then forced a fly out to end the game.
Game Conclusion:
The Stallions were impressive on both sides of the ball, making two errors early, but maintaining clean play in the field for the majority of the game. The Stallions were without their usual starters, giving Travis Hobbensiefken, Justin Ford, Jamie Zee, and other regular players in the lineup a day off and giving the new guys a look in the field. With yesterday’s performance, the Stallions have found depth heading into the rest of July and the back half of the season.
