Summary: The Stallions lost to the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs last night, 12-8. It was a close matchup through three innings, tied 2-2 and then an explosive top of the fourth gave the Diamond Dawgs the edge. Mohawk Valley scored nine in the top of the fourth, giving the Dawgs an 11-2 lead. The Stallions chipped away at the nine run lead, pulling within four in the bottom of the sixth. Though they closed the lead, the Ponies failed to score in the final three innings of the game and took a second straight loss at home.
Key Players:
Jamie Zee (Stallions): Zee had one of the best single game performances for the Stallions this season, going 3-5 with two home runs and three RBI. One of the youngest players on the Stallion squad, Zee has continued to improve for Saugerties.
Pitching Notes
Jace VanValkenburg (Stallions): VanValkenburg came in after the Stallions disastrous fourth inning and had himself an impressive time on the mound. He finished his day with 3.2 innings pitched, allowed three hits, one earned run and recorded three strikeouts.
Game Conclusion:
If the Stallions hadn’t had that disastrous fourth inning, they may have found themselves in possession of yet another win in their impressive stretch over the past two weeks. Errors proved a major problem for Saugerties and should be a focal point heading into Saturday’s matchup against Glens Falls.
Next Game:
Saturday, June 27th: Home vs Glens Falls Dragons
First pitch: 7:05 p.m.
