Summary: The Saugerties Stallions end their three game losing streak with a 5-4 victory over the Oneonta Outlaws at home on Thursday. The Stallions pulled off the win after jumping ahead 5-2 through five innings, but gave up two runs to the Outlaws in the seventh, allowing Oneonta to pull within one. The Stallions then shut the Outlaws out in the final two innings to secure their fourth win of the year. Saugerties now sits tied at third in the division with a 4-4 record.
Key Players
Justin Ford (Stallions): Ford opened up the scoring for the Stallions with an RBI single in the third, tying the game at 1-1. Ford currently leads the Stallions with a .440 batting average and is second in RBI with seven.
Logan Sanchez (Stallions): Sanchez was productive at the plate going 2-4 with 3 RBI. Sanchez improves to 5 RBI on the season.
Pitching Notes
Gregory Bruno (Stallions): Bruno came in relief in the ninth and faced five batters striking out three of them. Bruno’s impressive inning closed out the game for the Stallions.
Team note: This is the second win this season Saugerties has over Oneonta.
Game Conclusion:
The Stallions end a three-game losing streak in a close game to the Outlaws, putting the team back in the win column and at .500 on the season. Joining the team for the first time on Thursday was Notre Dame commit Jamie Zee who added much needed depth to a small Stallions roster. As more players join in the coming weeks and the Stallions starters have more support, the team should continue towards a winning trend.
